How we price a MacBook
We look at the chip, memory and storage, the condition of the screen, keyboard and case, and the battery cycle count (Apple menu → About This Mac → More Info → System Report → Power). Dents, scratches or a sticky key don't disqualify a laptop — they just change the number.
Bring the charger if you still have it. A MacBook without its charger is still something we'll buy, but a complete package is worth more.
We base every offer on what the MacBook will realistically resell for, adjusted for its condition and what's included. There's no haggling game — if something changes the number when we meet, we'll show you exactly why.
Getting your Mac ready
Back up with Time Machine or iCloud, sign out of your Apple ID and iCloud, and turn off Find My Mac. On newer Macs you can then use Erase All Content and Settings from System Settings → General → Transfer or Reset. An activation-locked Mac can't be sold, so please do this before we meet.
Protecting your privacy before you sell
Your data is yours, so please clear it before we meet. Back up anything you want to keep, sign out of your accounts (Apple ID, PlayStation Network, Microsoft or Nintendo) so the device isn't locked to you, then use the device's own reset option to erase it. Remove SIM cards and memory cards too. If you get stuck, give us a call and we'll point you to the right setting.
